About

MMmmmmm where to begin? Ah, I know. In 2006 a crazy adventure began. Yes, it was called “college”. Hammy and Starzipan lived on the same floor of the same dorm for the same year and ever since they’ve been very good friends. That’s the short of it anyway. Now Starzipan is still living in Olympia, Washington doing the college thing and Hammy lives in Sandy, Oregon doing the “I’ve graduated but have no job so I think I’ll cook and sew things for a while” thing in her parent’s basement. They both enjoy cooking and out of that comes this blog. Since they can’t be together very often this’ll be the way they share recipes with each other and all y’all.

Starzipan…

Starzy is always game to bake something. 11 pm? No matter, let’s make cupcakes! Better yet let’s listen to the Ditty Bops while we do it. She’s never let a good “your mom!” joke pass her up either. Right now she really really wants to try raising chickens. She loves sleeping in, watching Grey’s Anatomy and used to have an enormous Audrey Hepburn poster in her dorm room.

This has been lifted from Starzipan’s blog: “Hammy’s a sassypants. She cracks me up. She’s super crafty. Sometimes lives in her own little world. Ok, always, but luckily she invites Starzipan in sometimes. She has an adorable dog named Willow (she’s a whippet!) and a bunny named Monty (Montmont). She LOVES bunnies. She knits amazing little things.” Right now she’s working at a natural food store in town but she’s being paid in food, not monies. There’s an etsy store out there somewhere with her name on it too!

Star, I am hoping you remember me from the coffee shop. I am very tall, have very long hair and beard and am probably about the same age as your Grandpa.
I was going to send you a link to the Urban Farm Store in Portland because of your desire to raise chickens, but, I remembered that you don’t live in Portland. So, never mind.
Anyway, I followed links from Chad’s blog (abandoned, I believe)to your cooking blog. You have developed a great writing style. I think I just might become a regular reader. The first thing I want to try is the grilled naan bread. We’ll go from there.
Right now I just hope it is cooler where you are than where I am. I am in our office. It is very hot. I would open the window, but one of the dogs I live with decided to get on my desk, shred the screen and jump out the window to the ground twelve feet below. Twice. That’s all. DC
